Denmark helps Vietnam strengthen art activities
Speaking at the two-day workshop, which is part of Denmark’s project to support cultural and art activities in Vietnam, Danish Ambassador Peter Lysholt Hansen said that the event offers an opportunity for the two countries’ experts to share experiences and discuss the best capital mobilising modalities to further develop art activities in Vietnam.
He said the Danish side hopes that the workshop will come up with suggestions for Vietnamese policymakers to regarding policies and mechanisms supporting the cultural and artistic development.
According to Nguyen Van Tinh, Director of the MCST’s Department for International Cooperation, Denmark boasts many experiences in cultural and art activities.
He said Vietnam can follow the model of the Artistic Council, a semi-governmental agency in Denmark, which helps draw the participation of the private sector and business circle in cultural and artistic activities.
At present, Denmark and Vietnam are jointly implementing a five-year project entitled “Dialogue between Cultural Policymakers and Cultural Thinkers” funded by the Danish government.
The project, which will last until 2010, focuses on organising seminars on building cultural development policies, conducting fact-finding tours in Denmark and establishing cultural funds.
The Danish side has provided 168,000 USD for the hosting of seminars. The first seminar was held in 2007 under the theme of “Cultural Identity and Cultural Diversification”, which attracted more than 50 experts and cultural activists from Vietnam and Denmark./.
